Cross product term? I'm not even sure what you are saying.
I'll try to be more precise - I have a space H(psi) and a time side
E(psi). The space side has a second order partial dervative in x. When
I make the substitution u=x-ct and v=x-ct and apply the chain rule I
get the cross product term d2(psi)/(du)(dv). This can be set to zero fi
the solution is a sum of travelling waves. But it also lets me separate
the variables as well leading to a solution.
