We were taught that the kilocalorie was spelled with a capital
c and the regular calorie was lower case c. In school we knew
what Calorie and calorie meant. Correct spelling includes
lower case and upper case which doesn't seem to taught anymore :-(.

True, but still foolish.

Sure, no argument. Anyway, the Calorie versus calorie stuff was bound
to cause confusion at some point. And, it did.

I thought it was easy to remember. I think I learned this
stuff in third grade. I always remembered how to spell
Calorie because it was the BIG calorie amount.

Good for you. Not everybody was as attentive in school, though.
