DmitriKovtun, whose real "name" is
nospam at nospam.com (the usual site
of graffiti artists to sci.physics),
can't understand how two alternate
forms of Probable Influence Causation
can exist without all terms of both
being equal. That is to say, he thinks
that if P(A-->B) = 1 + y - x and if
P'(A-->B) = 1 + z - x, with y = P(AB)
and z = P(B), then y must equal z.
This is a good argument for people to
learn English before writing to a forum
that uses English, and similarly for
learning English before going to school\
in the USA. "Alternate" doesn't mean
equal. The word "alternative" might be
clearer here, and that also doesn't
mean equal. Physics students should
especially know that, for example, the
Schrodinger and Heisenberg and
Bohm theories of QM are alternative
or alternate but not identical, even
if the Schrodinger and Heisenberg
pictures are isomorphic. Likewise,
the wave or field and particle pictures
are different ways of looking at similar
things but aren't identical. I suspect
that if one comes from a one-viewpoint
nation, this type of error is more
likely.
