Hello folks,
I'm engaging in discussion with someone and have found myself going around
in circles, so I'd appreciate some help with a few mundane questions:
Can velocity change without time?
Can acceleration take place without time?
Is there such a thing as instant acceleration?
Can momentum change without time?
Can anything change without time?
Is this statement true: "But when no distance is covered against or with the
force, no work is done
and energy is neither stored nor expended."?
What did that last question have to do with the others?
Yes it's true.
The usual followup question would then be something like
"then why do I get tired holding up a heavy object?"
The answer is that your muscles do indeed burn energy
in staying tensed. But it is all essentially wasted. That
energy is lost as heat, and doesn't go into maintaining the
height of the object, which takes no energy. Tables
don't require fuel to keep books on them.
