Hi T_Wake, Used PCs usually don't have a usable OS.
Can you install Windows XP on any PC ? I can, most can't.
Bet you cant.
I have an old 386 upstairs with a 240mb HDD. Do you think you can install
Windows XP onto that?
If you claim to fame is that you can install Windows XP when "most" people
cant... I have bad news for you.
A used modem needs drivers, downloaded from the web.
Interesting proposition if you cant connect to the internet until after you
have downloaded the drivers.
Most people don't even realize they need drivers,
and can't even tell the difference between
an ethernet port and a phone jack.
These "most people" you speak about are a strange bunch. You seem to
interact with a different set of "most" than I do.
If the used PC comes from a business,
it likely only has an ethernet port, not a phone jack.
Many can't tell a DVD burner from a read-only CD player.
These peple are poor, have no PC and are off-line.
anxiety" when it comes to computers. I used to get frustrated with people
who told me a file "wouldn't open" (meaning: they waved the magic
wand--double-clicked on the file's icon--and Windows apparently didn't know
what to do; neither did they), but it happens so often that I just accept
it.
