Quantum Gravity 98.4: Forces and The Noncommutative Time-Space "Disaster"

From Osher Doctorow mdoctorow@xxxxxxxxxxx

Another counter-trend to the Noncommutative trend is the trend toward
recognizing Forces as much more important than their previous
downtrodden position outside Elementary Particle Physics would
indicate. The Energy people who dominated theoretical physics and
mathematics' imitative branch of "mathematical physics" had almost
succeeded in convincing everybody including themselves that Forces are
hallucinations produced by spatial curvature while Energy is not, when
bang! The discovery that the Universe is accelerating again was made,
and we discovered that somebody was "absent from the office" (or not
"minding the shop" as the saying goes) because acceleration has to do
with Force and Energy people had been teaching us to forget Force
except in elementary physics.

The Elementary Particle physicists had it right all the time,
including Nobel Laureate Steven Weinberg. When we abandon Force, we
abandon much of Causation, and as in Ethics so in science, knowing
Right from Wrong and anticipating the future have much in common
including Causation or Cause and Effect. Without Causation, we live
exclusively in the Present, we ally ourselves with those who can make
us most comfortable in the Present as do the tigers and apes in the
jungle, and we don't worry about whether the Universe is accelerating
physically/geometrically or whether future generations will decelerate
in the prices they pay for our actions or whether philosophy has
anything to do with physics.

I have already mentioned earlier the importance of Force in Condensed
Matter Physics.
