Two questions. For what purpose. At what level.
I'm trying to decide if I want to take SOA Exam P, the probability
exam from the Society of Actuaries. I'm not happy with how quickly I
can solve the types of problems they'd have, or doing so without notes
to refer to. The level is beyond what you'd find in a typical
introductory statistics book.

I've ordered some books from Amazon, more or less at random. That
should keep me busy for a while.

I would start with the one from the "crash
course" series, finish it, then I'd start the
one from the "demystified" series while
concurrently enriching my knowledge further
by using other texts based on past exam
samples. The two might be the only ones you
need though.

I don't really need a crash course. I've already had the non-crash course, and then some. I've gone through the ACTEX manual, and I thought it was very good, but I want to save the practice exams at the end of it for some later time when I think I'm closer to actually taking the test. I just want to spend some time practicing with other sources for a while.

I have two of the books I'd ordered from Amazon. "Problems in Probability" by Mills, and "Fifty Challenging Problems in Probability" by Mosteller. They seem to be about what I was looking for. That ought to keep me busy for a while.
