It would be nice if someone came out with a GPS receiverTraffic alerts already exist by ordinary digital radio
that could download Wikimapia data and real time data (News, etc.)
that would be played back in audio, text and/or video
as one moved around.
Features should include such things as
the selection of, and the distance and direction to,
the kinds of things and events of interest.
A satellite news subscription service could be set up
to feed live data (news, etc.) to receivers all over the globe,
and of course the military could set up a system
to map and report battlefield conditions,
and alert units of items of affecting them..
For example, you could be driving along
and be alerted to the fact that there was an accident,
traffic problem, fire, interesting event, etc. near you,
and you could be alerted to the places of interest near you
as you walked or drove around.
New knowledge-based, low power consumption toys
are needed to grow the economy while reducing
the load on the planet.

(at least in Britain). Turn the feature on and the alert
breaks in on the music.
Make yourself some money, get on and write it,
it is always nice if someone else does the work,
it sounds as if it is something Google might try.
I'd be happy if I could download books to my phone
instead of going to the library, although I'd really want
a page-sized screen and twin batteries, one on charge
while I used the other, as I do with my mouse.
I love to lay in bed reading a book, but some are way
too heavy to hold at a comfortable angle. A lightweight
illuminated screen as on a gameboy (with zoom feature)
would be ideal, all I want is text but illustrations would
be simple enough. I'd save money, too by turning the
bedroom light off. Who needs paper anyway? It may
be an advance over clay tablets, but it is still primitive
and a fire hazard.
