classical mechanics. The culprit seems to be the definition ofangular
momentumr x p.

sure I understood the subject thoroughly, and I think I do. That is
why I dare say something is wrong with the definition ofangular
momentumr x p. Would you want to help me?

Halliday, Resnick, Walker, Fundamentals of Physics; Giancoli's Physics
for Scientists and Engineers; but also Sears and Zemansky's University
Physics, and some of Goldstein's Classical Mechanics.

That's an interesting mix--two freshman level textbooks that I don't
consider "Classical Mechanics" texts and a graduate level textbook.
that is likely beyond your grasp.
Goldstein (2nd ed) begins on pg 3, "Conservation Theorem for Angular
Momentum of a Particle: If the total torque, N, is zero, then L = 0,
and the angular momentum is conserved". etc.
