In order to defend against global warming, some novel ideas have been
proposed; here are a few: building a fleet of satellites to shade the
planet, using mirrors to reflect light away, or releasing
light-reflecting particles into the atmosphere to cool temperatures.
Relocating our moon to Earth's L1 would more than turn the trick.
Though easier said than accomplished, over a century this task could
be accommodated, and as such it would do far more good than harm.
The researchers aren't ruling out these kinds of megaprojects
entirely, but they emphasize cutting down emissions as quickly as
possible, not hoping to rely on a silver bullet.
But they have been ruling out the planetology and gravitational
induced heating imposed by our moon. Cutting down emmissions is going
to help, by perhaps moderating at least 10% out of the natural
process. Soot reductions are going to accomplish far more positive
results, similar to what reductions in NOx are going to achieve. At
best we might achieve a 25% reduction in the rate of global warming by
way of our best applied terrestrial means.
Of relocating our moon to Earth's L1 would become more than
sufficient, along with energy and shade to burn (sort of speak).
