Mathematical Speckle

I'm trying to understand some of the mathematical and physical basis
behind speckle.

I'm looking at the text's by Goodman and making progress although it
is placed at a fairly high graduate level. Any resources web or
otherwise that might be useful in a mathematical description of
speckle, preferably bridging the gap between an undergrad and graduate
level?
