Hi.
Is it possible to prove that the energy required by a hypothetical
Maxwell demon to see a molecule's motion and open/close the
door is large enough to cancel out the decrease in entropy from
the demon's activity? If so, how do you do it?
This is not necessary. It is enough, when we change the shape of oth
chambers into torus. Analyzing this cyclic situation, we see that the
demon violates the law of conservation of momentum. This is a law of
mechanics, and not of thermodynamics.
