Detecting IED's is a very serious topic and you two have polluted it
by arguing about jamming GPS systems. What do GPS systems have to do
with IED's?
We should all be straining our brains to think of a counter measure to
the IED, but nobody is going to read this overly long harangue more
than once, when they find out it's way OFF TOPIC.
How can we frustrate the IED's?
One suggestion might be for the cell tower be notified of the
explosion and quickly (using a simple cache system) store all the
current phone numbers, to provide a clue to the one sending the
message. Something, anything.

It would be a piece of cake
to build a device that:

1. Monitored the cell phone band.

2. Generated an analog signal proportional to
the strength of the signal.

3. Feed the signal into a pair of limit detectors.
A = high limit
B = low limit

4. If the signal exceeded the high limit,
when it returned to the low limit,
the charge would be set off.

A company ( Rustrak ) used to make a
meter that had a pair of limit switches
that could be moved anywhere on the scale.

When the meter pointer moved past a
limit switch, it would be activated.

One could make an IED trigger
with such a meter and two mechanical relays.

The best policy is not to invade a nation
far away from one's homeland,
and to piss off a large number of the
folks in that nation.

They won't let you live off the land,
and they will take out your personnel
and equipment, one by one.

If you think that IED's create a "heart rendering"
problem for you,

the best way to get relief would be for you
to aggressively work to get American troops
out of Iraq, and take an aggressive stand
against any race, religion, politician, company, etc.
that tries to instigate conflict and war
that get folks that you love killed and maimed.

If a few thousand people like you,
had taken a more active role
in exposing the insanity of Bush's
war on the Iraqi people,
you wouldn't be "heart rendered" over IEDs.

Considering that hundreds of thousands of Iraqi's
have been killed and maimed, and that their
land and infrastructure has been devastated,
and their movements are controlled by checkpoints and fear,
and their precious 5000 year old artifacts have been
destroyed and stolen, and that the billions of dollars
they had in foreign banks accounts have been
effectively stolen by Bush and his gang,
I bet that many Iraq's are
just as "heart rendered" as you are.

I wouldn't be surprised if a few Iraqi's
wouldn't like to see Bush and the NeoCons
strung up like Saddam.
