: I work in a research lab. All the serious work is done

I worked in the real world making money, flight simulation and industry.
All the serious work is done in whatever operating system we give a
damn about. You have no clue what "serious programming" is, but it
has ***-all to do with operating systems.
: You wouldn't know what serious programming looked

Here is some of mine:

These are MY landing lights:

This is one of MY simulators

Not only was my work serious enough to go into operational usage
(military exercises and wars), it took me all over the USA, Europe
and to India for the Indian Navy Sea Harrier (AFTER I'd worked
on a Naval base in Britain with the outbreak of the Falklands war).
You wouldn't know what serious programming looked like,
"Buses take longer to stop than cars" wanker.
: Linux was not developed in the 70s. Educate yourself.
"Also, you probably want to get used to Unix." -- Wanker Poe.
: What difference does it make if it had an ancestor that
: was?
Who gives a *** about an off-the-shelf operating system?
You obviously don't know what serious programming is about,
never had to design a test for the FAA, never had to work on
military equipment for a foreign power and that includes
NASA and the Indian Navy, never had to place a simulated
graphic target in a real HUD with perfect alignment with
sidewinder lock-on. You think a 70's HUD relies on Linux?

In this pic the target is lost, the blip is at 3 o'clock.
You are pompous, hand-waving arsehole, Poe.
: If you're a Microsoft fan,
Oh, for ***'s sake... You really are pathetic, babbling on about
operating systems. It doesn't matter to me what the operating system
is, I'm a retired software engineering manager, Mr. Junior Programmer
in a research lab.
You've never done any serious programming in your life, you
wanker, and it shows. If it was a piss-up in a brewery you'd
be whining about Laphroaig being worse than Budweiser
without knowing the difference between good whisky and bad
beer. You wouldn't last five minutes on my team.
