: I studied Electronics at University and was an electronics engineer for
20+
: years. A basic knowledge of programming and computer systems is essential
if
: you are to progress into something like project management later on. Once
or
: twice in my career I wish I'd been able to write "experienced in C++" on
my
: CV as that would have given me a few more openings. Small companies can't
: allways afford to hire an electronics engineer and a programmer -
sometimes
: you need to be able to do both. A lot depends on what you want to do
after
: college.
:
Try moving to the USA, even small companies can afford to hire an
electronics engineer and a programmer without being taxed to high
heaven. There is little engineering left in Britain, no more ship building,
no more cars, the electronics market is sewn up by the far East,
and precious little aircraft industry left. The country that began the
industrial revolution is on the decline. So is the USA but it has
a higher level to decline from, Britain has already sunk.
Oh... and be able to write "experienced in C++" on your curriculum
vitae but call it a résumé instead of a CV.
It's easy, comment with "// comment" instead of "/* comment */"
and you are not lying.
This I tell you from experience, I spent 20 years across the pond.
"Have a nice day" = "G'day mate" = "Wotcher"
As for "ParTizanPuPkin", who writes "I" in lower case, be on
the watch for trolls. I daresay he meant "partisan pumpkin"
but was in too much hurry changing LOWER to upper case.
He'll vanish and resurface with a new non-de-plume.
This I tell you from experience, I've spent 8 years on usenet.
