Considering the number of flakes/crackpots currently posting to
sci.physics, I believe that it would be of signifant benefit to the
newbie physics students posting here for the first time that someone
constructed a listing of the known crackpots and clueless who tend to
post silly theories and otherwise crap to the newsgroup.

There have been efforts of this sort in the past. I don't know if it ever
did anyone any good. But here is what was done:

There are a lot of recognizable kooks on the lists, but of course I can't
be sure everyone on the list deserved it because I didn't compile them
myself. In particular, the inclusion of Pmb on one of the lists may have
had more to do with his perverse conventions and argumentative nature than
real crackpottery.

Along the same lines, Dirk van de Moortel has a collection of stupid and
funny posts:

I notice you are posting via Google. If it is possible for you to access
a
news server, I would highly recommend switching to a real newsreader. In
that case, a crackpot list would directly benefit you because you could
filter out the posts from cranks. In some newsreaders (for example,
40tude
Dialog), you can filter out the replies to these posts, too.

There is little to nothing that can be done to change what other people
post on an unmoderated newsgroup. But filtering out trash can be done
suprisingly well, despite the fact that the noise exceeds the signal.
Unfortunately, the remaining signal is small because many people are
turned
away by the high level of noise. Thus our best hope for improving the
newsgroup is to speed up the process of learning how to use a killfile
effectively.

If there is interest I may post a section of my killfile, which would be
more up-to-date than the lists above, although it would include plenty of
political posters and spammers as well as good old scientific crackpots.
But if there isn't much interest, I'd rather not name any names.

As my Pappy used to say:
"Birds of the feather, flock together."

I was pleased to see that "Jim E. Black"
joined up with the infamous sci.physics parrots,
who attack messengers,
rather than address messages
in a rational, intelligent, moral way.

No doubt about it.
"Jim E. Black" belongs in this flock.

Mike Varney
Old Man
Dork Moortel
Sam Wormley

I was pleased to see that "Jim E. Black"
included the old personal attack page
from Sam Wormley's phony "edu" account,
as it provides insight into Sam's basic personality.

As a long time bird watcher in sci.physics,
it is my perception that as these parrots
are incapable of engaging in rational discussions on issues,
that the best they can do,
is parrot phrases they have been conditioned to,
and squawk a lot.

Congratulations Jimmy!
You have joined up with some real winners.

( Or did I spell "whiners" wrong? )

Your pal,
