All observation points to loss of frequency, and expanding time.

That matches every observation.

Expanding space puts limits on the size and age of the Universe, and
that isn't always supported by observation.

Yes, the inflation period solves that.

But how many band-aids does expanding space need, before we realize
it's not the best mechanism to explain expanding time and a loss of
frequency?
