Here's an example of well know psychos who regularly post, and tend to
be destroying rec.physics.
I don't mean to focus the spotlight on this specific poster, since he
is one of many whose posts repel serious posters from the newsgroup.
Sadly, while I haven't counted heads, there are 6-10 others causing
the identical disruptive effect to serious discussions about physics
on sci.physics.
Newcomers to sci.physics likely won't believe this, bu 10 years ago
this was a place where somecould ask about how to built appartus to
reaearch the Mossbaur Effect, and receive 8 explainions exlaining it,
and how to construct research apparatus for the study of Mossbaur
specta. Not any more, at least not after several corporate entities
surfaced Usenet for commercial expoitation to capture profit from the
masses.
AOL was likely the first to introduce the Internet and Usenet to the
masses. Then came WebTV (anybody remember that). Most of us who had
been here for many years did not see any theat a all from the Web,
which attractely only kids and not anyone expected anything beond whiz-
bang unilateral presentation, mostly of little significance. Then,
things changed about 5 years into the Web, suddenly the Web began to
operate out of profit motivation, and then the sharks arrived to
feed.
Esssentially, this is what is being sold today to Usenet's
disadvantage. Go fiigure, and individual Usenet poster is fully
capable of, with clever employment of the facilities available, being
capable of bringing down the political ambitions of any candidate, or
for that matter the credibility of any governent.
Consider what this will eventually lead to.
