When you finish searching for a magnetic monopole, I would like some
help locating a one-sided coin. I last saw it near a hollow line
segment connected to sqrt(-1).

Hello Tom,
I understand your comparison with the hollow line, however, I am damn
serious.
Perhaps you understand my explanation on the sam page of the Aharonov
Bohm effect better.
qoutation:
Magnetic monopole photon trajectories around solenoids and the
Aharonov Bohm effect.
Maxwell's second equation says that there are no single "magnetic
charges"and that, therefore, magnetic lines of force must always form
closedloops. In my perspective there are no closed loops outside a
small longsolenoid, because the external field is nullified by the
specialgeometrical emission of monopoles .

Flux lines and loops are bogus. They are a geometrical device to help
us 'visualize' magnetism.
The real facts are in the unified Maxwell equations. Not the Four
equations taught to freshmen, but the one equation taught to students
who have mastered tensor calculus. The one with the d'Alembertian
operator.
On the unified equation the electric charge appears on the diagonal,
and are consequently "real" in the sense that a diagonalization of the
matrix does not transform them away.
The "magnetic field" appears only in the off-diagonal elements. The
tensor representing this 'field' is antisymmetric, and has a
determinant that is identically zero. The math of the antisymmetric
tensor does not permit a magnetic monopole to exist.
The requirement of closed "magnetic flux lines" results in a
prohibition of monopoles.
Consider a Second Law argument. Of you drop a monopole into a closed
magnetic field loop, would it react to the field? Which way would it
accelerate? When would it stop? Have you created a perpetual motion
machine?
