Exactly as you said. By "becoming" infinite, not growing into it.
Sure, the expansion accelerates for a while, but at some point the
universe will "teleport", for lack of a better word, to infinity, not
"go" there.
And on what evidence do you have any basis for using the word "will",
as opposed to "might"? Does your requirement for hope become the
catalyst that turns "might" into "will"? And what does the world care
whether you have reason for hope?
