Contiguous things form an environment,
and the environment in turn modulates
the birth and death rates of
the things within the environment.
In a nurturing environment,
a population increases exponentially,
and in a non-nurturing environment,
a population decreases exponentially.
population(generation n+1) = population(generation n) * e^ (k*time)
Euler Formula
e^(i*pi) + 1 = 0
which is best stated as:
e^(i*( circumference / diameter)) + 1 = 0
and the population equation above
are the tip-offs as to why the "egg" divides.
i = (-1)^.5 ( This defines a 90 rotation.)
e = the natural logarithm base
t = time
k = expansion constant
I suggest that if one perfect circle,
or more correctly one perfect spherical bubble,
exists in a nothingness, nothing would happen,
but that if ANY purbutation, however small, came into play,
or if at any point, the bubble split,
that this would introduce a non-linearity,
that would change the environment,
and would increase the population to double..
This in turn would also change the environment,
causing the population to double again.
As the doubling continued,
the environment would become more and more complex,
and the "bubbles" would become more and more specialized,
eventually reaching a diversity such as found on Earth.
Also at the lowest level,
there environment would be nurturing to almost all "bubbles",
but as the environment became more complex,
it would become non-nurturing to some "bubbles",
and nurturing to others. Also symbiotic or oscillatory
relationships would begin to develop between classes of "bubbles".
The "k" in the population equation is a constant
ONLY in a persistent, nurturing environment,
and as the environments fragmented, and
more specialized "bubbles" arose,
the "k' would be different for each specialized "bubble",
depending upon how the environment affected it.
The bottom line is,
perfect circles and spheres would not change in a
perfectly neutral environment, but if a "bubble" existed,
and if at any point, the bubble split,
or an aberration impacted it,
the environment would be changed,
and the process would be set in motion.
