My hypothesis states that antimatter, like matter, has POSITIVE
inertial (and gravitational) mass, but a REPULSIVE gravitational field
proportional to its inertial mass.
And Hawking radiation can be explained by the presence of virtual
particle-anti particle pairs near the event horizon of the black hole
(the particle/anti-particle pairs being a consequence of QFT). In
this model, the anti-particle (i. e. antimatter particle) occasionally
falls in and the particle remains outside.
Now suppose my hypothesis were wrong.
Then the anti-particle, which is just antimatter, has a POSITIVE
(attractive) gravitational field. So if the anti-particle fell in,
the black hole wouldn't lose mass, it would just become heavier. And
if the black hole isn't losing mass, there is no energy coming out of
it, which means no Hawking radiation.
However, under my hypothesis, the antimatter particle of the pair
falls in, and the black hole loses mass. Energy comes out.
Everything's cool!
Of course, no one has ever observed Hawking radiation :(
Hawking is crazy.
Proof:
Thirty years ago it was my round, the venue was Sussex U.,
Hawking joined our group on his gurney, I offered to buy him a pint.
He declined.
That is not what an Englishman does unless he is mentally unbalanced.
Hawking makes no sense and neither does your hypothesis.
What did you offer him? Bud Light?
===========================================
30 years ago Bud Light was unheard of in Britain, European lagers
were just making an inroad.
He could have anything he wanted as long as it was English Ale.
Anyway, he was ***-whipped. His old lady said to me in a
very haughty voice "Do you know who this is?"
I said "Nope, would you like a drink too?"
She replied "He's Stephen Hawking!" as if I was supposed to
know, and pushed his gurney away with her nose in the air.
Anyway, the other lads all had one, I dunno what I'm supposed
to have done wrong in not knowing his name at the time, I didn't
treat him any differently than I'd treat anyone else; he was talking
ok back then, too. Can't say I blame him for divorcing that "lady",
but who ever heard of an Englishman turning down a pint when it's
my shout? Incredible! He was never going to make it as an engineer,
that much has come true.
