A gyrocompass doesn't know where any direction is, including true
north. You point it somewhere and it'll stay pointed like a dog
till it starts to drift.

It would add its physics well with Earth's gravity How
'precession" can bring the gyro axis back to true north,and it would add
to how true north wonders. Best to keep in mind a magnetic compass
never points to true north,but a gyro not using magnetisim does
