Sam you make it sound like a gyrocompass has no brain and can not tell
directions???
That's right, Herb. A gyrocompass is so dumb it stays pointed
at whatever some idiot set it to point at.
Point it at some arbitrary star and it will just stay pointed
at it.
that made me laugh, and I love a good laugh to start my
day. please you go to the library, and a book there will tell you this
You set the gyrocompass(axis of the gyro motor in a north-south
direction get the rotor to spinning. Ships and planes carring the
compass may turn, the gyroscope keeps the indicator always pointing
north. Like in my toy gyro fiction can cause it to drift out of
true.and has to be corrected This can be done by using the Earth's
gravity. Sam your curiosity will have you seek out how this is done. I
could tell you but best you find out on your own. It will help you to
start thinking. Thinking is exercise that your brain needs most

I always did like making you laugh, Herb.
