Interesting; our family was stationed in Germany at the time, and I
watched it over, iirc, the German "Sudwestfunk" channel as the AFTV
channel in Frankfurt didn't come in for *** in Heidelberg (this meant
lots of "Batman" episodes in German. Weeeeiirrrd.); also iirc, the German
channels stayed on fairly late normally, not like TV stations in the
States in those days, where even the Late Late Show usually wrapped up
around 2:30am, followed by that old F-104 footage with "High Flight"
scrolling over it, the Anthem, and "snow" by 2:40am.

When DC local Channel 5 first expanded their Friday and Saturday night
late old movie programming to all-night in the mid '70s, it was like a
gift from the gods for all us late-night partiers.

Now, _there's_ a marker for you; how many USAians here can remember when
TV stations actually _signed_off_the_air_ at 1 or 1:30am every night,
right after Carson, or the Perry Mason rerun, or the old B-movie?
