SSH == sci.space.history.

SSM == sci.space.moderated.

I know something of the history of sci.space.moderated. That group was
created, in large part, so that we could have flame-free discussions of
controversial, contentious subjects. scott had a forum to express his
opinion without the conversation degenerating into personal invective.
Even in this environment, he never presented his case well enough for a
skeptical but open-minded observer to say "hey, this is interesting
enough to justify further investigation", much less "hey, scott has
proved [anything]".
