Indeed. But, OTOH, I could do without the flamefests [1].

[1] Speaking purely personally, of course. But this is the only newsgroup I
frequent that still suffers from them. All the others, mostly technical
and/or musical [2], have learnt how to avoid them, work around them. That's
not to say they're tame - far from it - that's half the value of usenet! -
but it does make life more pleasant.

[2] *The* most civilised newsgroup I know is a UK music group - i.e. no
Americans. I wonder if this is significant ;).
