Note the if-then construction. I'm not damning you, you're

Precisely. How is it that you deserve the benefit of
the doubt on racism when discussing, humorously, the
use of firehouses against civil rights protestors yet
Rand Simberg does not receive any similar benefit?

For what it's worth I do not think either you or
Simberg is a racist, and that assessment has nothing
to do with the degree to which I might agree with
either his or your ideologogies.
