When I read press releases (and read "popular press" articles) about how the
scientists are trying to "save" the results from Genesis, I just have to
laugh. Especially when I see a picture of a scientist bent over samples,
using a pair of tweezers to sort through debris. Sure he was wearing a
"bunny suit", but not a full, face covering suit. There's going to be more
than just "air" contaminating these samples.
A lot of what was supposed to be captured was gas, right? It seems like
this data would be completely unrecoverable when the samples are being
exposed to the Earth's atmosphere for a very lengthy period of time.
