BTW, I always wondered...is the burning on the back end of the ET
primarily caused by exhaust recirculation onto the back end of the tank,
or is it the result of the IR flux of the rocket exhaust? It's quite
noticeable on the post ET separation photos.
This one's interesting- the burning from the SRB separation motors
appears to be far more severe on the port side than the starboard side
