...Andre, that script went through several revisions. What I related
was from one version I'd read about 15 years ago, and was an actual
manuscript from a collection of another Trek historian, who had quite
a few versions. The "mammoth" scene Harlan kept trying to insert and
it would get axed. For some reason he really wanted to see Kirk almost
get trampled, as if it were a bookend allegory to what happens to
Edith Keeler.

...As for the "Spock pushes Keeler in front of the car" and/or "Spock
stopping Kirk", he waffled back and forth between that one until Gene
wrote in Kirk stopping McCoy.

...As for why none of the Gene versions are in the UCLA archives,
remember that Harlan donated the versions that are there.
Autobiographies can be tainted with self-hype and the "evidence" to
back up said. Just ask Ty Cobb.
