Ditto thanks on the super snaps.
It just occurred to me that Complex 13 has a bit
of historic importance not noted in most reports.
Yes, it hosted the wildly successful Lunar Orbiter
missions, but it was also the launch pad for
Mariner 3, NASA's first attempted Mars mission.
Mariner 3 was launched from Pad 13 on November 5,
1964, but the payload fairing failed to open and the
mission failed. Mariner 4, launched from Pad 12 a
few weeks later, became the first space probe
to successfully fly by Mars.
So Complex 13, fittingly for those who are
superstitious about numbers, was where NASA
first encountered the "Great Galactic Ghoul"
- the space monster that eats Mars probes!
