CAPITALIST LIES! Moon pictures were recorded on Cosmowhirl P3000-M-PF-U-Bis "Trud 3000Z" wire recorder incorporating New Soviet Wire Technology with revolutionary iron/iron oxide "Red Wire Special" recording medium.
...Remove "may" and insert "probably". More than likely, they were
recorded using Ampex 2" tape and SECAM encoded, although it wouldn't
surprise me if they were using the relatively-new 1/2" low-band mono
recorders if all the images were used for was for navigation. In
either case, if the tapes were not airtight-sealed, they've probably
oxidized by now to the point that if you didn't take special
precautions the ferrous substrate on the tape would flake off as it
hit the rollers and the capstan over the tape heads and/or the tape
itself would be so brittle it would crack.
Unfortunately, after fall of beloved Soviet Union, filthy oil oligarch bought all recording wire at Baikonur Vodka Relief Project Charity Auction and sold it to Kazakhstani farmers as way to bind hay bales instead of the traditional Gypsy intestine binding medium. Evidence of alien lunar monolith is somewhere in field north of Dzhezkazgan as we speak and may never be found again unless concerned Americans send money to "Lunar Cosmo Recovery Project" c/o Comrade I. B. Crookid at Box 15385678 Moscow. All donations should be in small unmarked bills.
Also, money is needed to rescue Nigerian astronaut Basher Mobutu Sese-Seko who is still trapped on Mir after fall of Soviet Union. Comrades! Do not let this brave man die so far from his beloved Africa! Send money now to "Basher Cosmo Recovery Project" c/o Comrade U. B. Takin at Box 15385679 Moscow. Any currency other than Rubles welcome. ;-)
