....Yeah, it was really screwy there until they got the 4lb sack of
marbles out. The sugar levels were going between 120 and 400, and
nothing was making sense. I was off glucose and on straight saline,
and the levels would fluctuate. I went back on glucose, and they'd
stabilize to that 120 normal, then bounce all over the place if I ate
anything or took a pee. This went on until the day after the
operation, and things stabilized to 130-140, and they quit doing the
insulin injections. Prior to that, they were talking about me going on
the needle twice a day, and had actually shown me how to shoot myself
up just in case. I did my Tommy Chong impressions with this one,
putting one nurse in tears by arguing "hey man, I've been shooing up
since the 60's. I think I, like, know how to use a needle by now. Even
a clean one!"

Damn. Forgot to bring that up on my OMBlog entry. Gotta update that
one...
