Easy to say when we never sent an unmanned rock retrieval mission to
the Moon, and you're messuring in terms of pounds of rock.
The Russians did, and they measure in grams.
Moreover, the *quality* of the samples returned by Apollo are beyond what
robots could do, even today, because it required judgment to decide what was
valuable and what was not. Telepresence is not a good substitute.
A robot cannot grab a rock, and then decide that something underneath that
rock was interesting enough to sample as well. Someday, in the distant
future, perhaps, but not today.
