saturn 5 in florida looks better but it too had major structural damagehttp://www.apollosaturn.com/otherhw.htm
from rust and corrosion and reports indicated it was near collapse...
sad how we treat irreplaceable artifacts:(
what of the 3rd saturn 5? did it get sold for scrap?
There is no 3rd Saturn V. Of the three canceled but completed Saturn Vs, one
was used for Skylab (but its S-IVb wasn't and is on display), one has its
first two stages on display, and its third converted to the backup Skylab
(now on display), and the third has all three stages on display. Note that
the Saturn V on display in Alabama is not flight hardware, nor is the S-Ic
at KSC. Also, most of the IUs and many of the interstages have gone astray.
At the end of Apollo, NASA did scrap three flight-ready Saturn IB first
stages (SA-212-214). It also scrapped most of the SA-500F facilities
test vehicle that famously performed the first KSC rollout in 1966.
The
second S-IC stage (the structural test article, which never had
engines)
was also scrapped. In addition, two developmental S-II stages and one
flight S-IVB stage were accidentally destroyed in testing accidents.
