When I saw your "given" I immediately had an image of an Apollo CM coming down in Lake Titicaca, 12,500 feet up.
I can't imagine why it should need to land there, but it would make for an interesting recovery problem ;-)
Okay, I've got the helicopter book out, and here's the straight poop on the copter payload capacities
In each case payload will be done by subtracting empty weight from gross weight, although some weight will have to go for fuel, crew and a payload winch to hook to the CM.
Boeing CH-47C "Chinook" 11,622 lbs. Very iffy at best, and it was first flown in 1968, but has a winch built in.
Sikorsky SH-3A "Sea King" 8,050 lbs. This one's a non-starter.
Sikorsky HH-3F "Jolly Green Giant" 10,351 lbs. Way too iffy, probably impossible.
Sikorsky CH-54A "Skycrane" 22,797 lbs. This will work fine; and it has a built in winch capable of hoisting 20,000 pounds also.
Sikorsky CH-53E "Super Stallion" 37,736 lbs. This also will work fine although you may have a problem winching the capsule up as it may not be stressed for that big of external payload, and is primarily for carrying internal loads.
Out of all of them, I'd say the Skycrane would be the best choice, as its rear facing cargo handler would be able to raise the CM right up between the landing legs and this would mean it would be easy to land on the carrier with it without damaging it by contact with the deck.
