My daughters ex work on his croc `farm' outside Cairns. He was almost
every day left speachless at the total unthinking dumbarseness of some
of the things done. Like holding your baby over the pen. Just like he
did when feeding them chickens!

Yes, a regional reptilian zoo owner/keeper (Clyde Peeling, see:
http://www.reptiland.com/) here on the east coast of the US shared with
me his Steve Irwin story a few years back. Evidently Irwin was headed
to the Big Apple (New York City) and needed an alligator as a prop.
Well he rented one from Peeling for the day and proceeded to annoy and
alarm Peeling by laying next to the gator and sort of cooing to it, a
habit that he'd been known to do. Humans really aren't supposed to lie
down next to alligators like they would the family dog, it just isn't
sane. Suffice to say Peeling was relieved to get his gator back and not
have Irwin accidently mauled in the process.
