Aside from a mention of this possibility some time ago in this forum by
the inimitable Henry Spencer, I've never encountered this concept
anywhere else.

It seems like it would have been so easy to do. Why was it not done?



Too high of air drag? Besides, if you were going to do anything with it you'd need another Saturn V flight to outfit it.
