As of the moment; 1:04 CDT, the Democrats now control the House by over 30 representatives, and the Senate looks like it will come down to damn near a 50-50 margin, with a few independents.
We've got our future back, ladies and gentlemen.
Does this mean that we're going to be inundated with American bible
belters wanting to emigrate?
No, the Solid South shall remain solidly Republican; the Land of Lincoln...what the *** did I just say there? :-D
Pat
Well, the thing is..
The Republicans lost heavily in the west.. Those were safe seats and
areas in 2004.. When was the last time an election in Idaho was close?
When you break this down into State and local, this was about as much
a landslide as you could get in an offyear.. People went in and voted
knowing this would hamstring the president and not really get a lot
done outside that. This was an election where the outcome is going to
be gridlock.
I said a few years ago on here that the biggest danger to the
Republican Party was the Republican Party and Rand thought I was
nuts. But, there is no way around it this time. The Republicans
self-destructed and there is really only one central person to all
of that..
2008 just became even more interesting. Washington DC is going to be
a mess the next couple years and anyone in Congress is going to be
badly affected by what is coming. The odds are favorable for someone
on the sidelines (preferably a serving governor) to come in as an
outsider.
Well, if nothing else, the Senate vote will raise senator attendance
at the votes... someone has an off day and that can easily change the
results of a vote.
