Hi Stan
We visited the Cosmosphere on our way back to Wisconsin from LDRS 25 -- I
was in seventh heaven. When my wife and I arrived, we were underwhelmed by
the external view of the building until we got inside and were greeted by a
SR-71 hanging from the ceiling. Much of the museum is located underground so
the place is much larger that it looks.
This is a serious museum -- not much hands on for kids. The basement exhibit
leads you on an very informative journey through the history of rocketry
from Von Braun to modern times. One of the most interesting exhibits is near
the entrance -- an restored V2 rocket along side a V1 buzz bomb. All the
rocketry info is intertwined within the world history of the time. This
historical background help one to better understand the events as the
unfolded.
We spent two day at the Cosmophere and had to leave after that. Didn't do
much exploring around town.

Am considering a trip to Hutchinson, KS to see the Cosmosphere. If anyone
has visited it, I would welcome your impressions & opinions.
Also, is there anything else fun to do in Hutchinson, besides see the
Cosmosphere? Have a sneaking feeling that the entertainment calendar
might be kind of barren.
Thanks!
Stan
P.S. Any news updates regarding Max Ary's conviction of stealing
artifacts belonging to the museum? Strangely, a Google News for "Max Ary"
returns no articles.
