The Soviets put a lot more thought into weather protection than we did
due to the terrible weather at Baikonur, which combines violent
thunderstorms in summer with violent snowstorms in winter.
The place has giant lightning arrestor towers all over it, and they like
to get the booster to the pad and airborne ASAP.
