One problem they will have is that they might well get tossed off the airport for this, in that it will be seen as a endangering other people using the airport.
Testing like this (and I assume they were doing some sort of test if they had the nitrous oxide on-site) should be done in a remote area, not at a public airport.
They had better have checked out what they were doing with the proper airport, law enforcement, and fire authorities...or they could be in a heap of legal trouble about this.
