Yeah, it is a good idea. Parking a bike is tricky, has to be balanced
pretty close for the kick stand to do its thing. I can see putting one
of these on some big cruiser bike with the compasses, CB radio, cigarette
lighter, and so on.

If the rack is installed too closely to a building such that bikes go parallel to the building wall and you park in the space closest to the building, and then a bunch of other riders park their bikes in the same rack, you can end up cut off from your bike. ...
