I suspect that the shuttle as well as many other NASA artifacts are
SBU (Secure But Unclassified). And if that doesn't seem like a
classification, though low, I don't know what it is.

Trade secrets. Like Intel knowing how to make high speed CPU chips, knowledge AMD or other semiconductor houses would like to know.
