You're either a liar or an ignoramus, because Osama bin Laden
definitely got training and funds from the US. Hint: Osama
assassinated the leader of the Northern Alliance.

Not true, liar. We sold dozens of "crop spraying helicopters" which
we knew goddamn well saddam didn't need in his desert country. We
gave him billions in "agricultural loans" which we knew he was
diverting into arms. We sent bio-chem experts to saddam and even
allowed him to import deadly strains of weaponizable biological agents
in the early 1980's. The US also stonewalled UN investigation of
saddam's use of chemical weapons against the Iranians in the Al Faw
Peninsular campaign and elsewhere.

Gorbachev was trying to end the coldwar in 1985 and Reagan refused,
because he couldn't give up fantasies like Starwars and the trillions
of corporate welfare that he funnelled into the military industrial
complex. The soviets were not a threat, for the most part, except to
our own imperial interests. We were hardly being selfless in
defending western europe. We sought to dominate it, much like we did
with the rest of the world.
