You could avoid some of the problems with proper home construction
techniques (dome home, electric shutters, etc.) and a stockpile of
fuel for your generator, but it seems a hassle.

Frankly, I'd worry more about lightning strikes, skin cancer, and insect-
borne disease if I lived in Florida.
