Anythings possible of course, but let me ask this. Is it easier to train
American Soldiers than Iraqis? It seems to me, that unless Iraqis are mostly
retarded, it should take just as long to train an American soldier to be
battle-ready as it would an Iraqi, and we've already begun training the Iraqis.
By the time we have a large standing army of competant draftees, the Iraqis
will already have a large standing army of their own ready for a fight. One of
our mistakes in Vietnam, for instance, was to make our allies dependent on us
to fight their civil war. What positive thing our inadequate preparations for
the Iraq War has done, is make the Iraqi government aware that it must be
self-sufficient in fighting this war. If we lose this war, some of our soldiers
come home humiliated and scarred for life, but the Iraqi soldiers who fought by
our side possible lose their country and their lives, they are the biggest
losers. If we went into Iraq with a massive army 1 million strong, the Iraqis
would feel no need to participate in the fight against the insurgents, that was
precisely how the South Vietnamese felt during the initial years of the war.
They did not anticipate that the War was also being fought in Washington among
political groups who were vying for the Presidency. The Presidency, for them,
was a bigger prize than our victory or defeat in Vietnam, so naturally those
out of power would try to undermine support for the war to make the President
look bad. That is what's going on now. The Iraqis know that if we lose this war
in Washington, they will be sacrificed to the enemy and will face the
oppressions that enemy has in store, unless they can build their own army
quickly enough to defeat them.
With a large draft army, they might be lulled into complacency, and be
unprepared for when support for their cause evaporate due to the high casuality
rates inflicted by the insurgents. That is why the insurgents are being
especially crule in their head choppings of captive prisoners. The relatives of
that English guy, who had his head chopped off, played right into the
terrorist's hands, by blaming the British Prime Minister, rather than the Arab
with the bloody dagger in his hand.
What a wonderful position the terrorists are in, they can kill whoever they
want and other people will be blamed as if it were the Prime Minister that
moved the Terrorists bloody hands and not the Terrorist himself.
