Who was responsible for the system as it stood? If terrorism had been a
priority with the incoming Bush administration, they could have corrected
structural problems by executive order. And if there are structural
problems, it becomes even more important for sombody to take charge to pull
the loose ends together.

I never said that Bush should be "abusive". Good leaders know how to lead
without being abusive. That's one of the defining characteristics of a good
leader.
What *I* find disturbing is the notion that the nation would have "panicked"
to see Bush rush out of the classroom (as if Bush reading "My Pet Goat" was
being broadcast live nationwide), and that "nothing" was the best thing that
Bush could have done. That's a sad commentary on Bush's leadership ability,
if nothing else. I also find it disturbing that so many are willing to make
excuses for Bush's inaction.

In the past, I have led avionics hardware and software design groups.
Currently, as a Liaison Engineer, my job is to coordinate between groups
like QA, Manufacturing, Project Engineering, DER's, Standards, Flight Test,
etc. The biggest problems I have had are when management will not make a
decision, leaving me in the middle of a pissing contest. You should stop
jumping to conclusions based on zero information.
