How bout the computer sitting on your desk? The second generation of
main frame computers were pushed out at a faster rate because NASA and
its contractors needed computers which could plot new orbits and
trajectories at a fast pace. There was no big push from companies
simply printing paychecks with them. Because space craft needed to be
smaller and more compact simiconductors were invented which brought in
the micro computer sitting on your desk.
